The Canberra Track and Field Classic took place over the weekend and it was brilliant to see Sean Tobin in the Club singlet running a brilliant race. Conditions were damp as the track was very wet, these conditions didn’t deter Sean as he tracked the pacesetter for the 1st 2 laps. Then with 700m to go he took up the pace and he maintained that strong pace that saw him and another athlete draw clear of the pack. At the bell, in 2 mins 47 secs, Sean was still leading with Clarke on his shoulder ready to pounce. Then with 200m to go Clarke goes into the lead with Sean in close attention, then as they come off the final bend Sean moved wide and moved up a gear to win convincingly in 3 mins 45.24 secs. Great performance by Sean as he prepares for the upcoming European Indoor Championships in early March in Glasgow where he will compete in the 3000m.
