The Morton Games took place in very good conditions at Santry Stadium tonight. We had Kevin Maunsell running in a top class 5000m race with two pace setters setting as strong pace right from the start. Then as they approached the 1500m mark a group of 7 athletes broke clear with Kevin in the middle of the chasing pack. While all eyes were on the leading group, the chasing pack were all working well together, and they kept the pace going with Kevin coming through to finish 14th in 13 mins 57.7 secs, fantastic performance in a top-class field. Kevin was the 2nd Irishman to finish. In the Morton Mile we had Sean Tobin competing in what was a very competitive race. Sean was well positioned throughout the early stages of the race when going with the early pace. As the race progressed he came under pressure and the long season he has had begun to tell as he crossed the line in 4 mins 5.59 secs. I am sure that after a nice break, well deserved, from the Sport, Sean will come back, and no doubt set his sights on the upcoming Cross-Country season
