This popular event took place last Sunday in Bansha Woods over a 9.5k route. Here Paul Minogue put in a great performance when winning convincingly in 37 mins 20 secs. Then we had Kealey Tideswell also running well over the terrain when finishing 6th overall in 42 mins 17 secs to win the women’s race.

This very popular event took place in good conditions last Sunday. Brendan Walshe underlined his goof form of late when running very well to finish 113th in 65 mins 45 secs. Then we had Anthony Power also running well when finishing 130th in 67 mins 12 secs.

The Kilsheelan 10-mile road race took place in warm conditions on St Patrick’s Day, and it was great to see the Club well represented in this event. Right from the start, Paul Minogue set a strong pace over a very familiar route and soon opened a lead on the chasing pack inside the first mile.

The Streets of Portlaoise 5k road race attracted a very good entry on St Patrick’s Day with Club members to the fore. It was brilliant to see Sean Tobin back competing again after a lengthy lay off due to injury. Sean set a strong pace from the start reeling in the kms at 2 mins

Here we had Maire Claire McCarthy negotiating a very good performance over very wet underfoot conditions on this undulating route when finishing 13th overall in 2 hours 50 mins 1 sec and finish 2nd woman. Then we had Dan O Keeffe also running well when finishing in 4 hours 27 mins in 128th place.

The Club made the short trip to Ballyneale for the County Intermediate Road races last Sunday. Conditions were good and it was great to see the Club well represented in both races. The Munster Road Championships took place last Sunday in Quilty County Clare. The Club was represented in both races. The National Irish Universities Cross Country Championships took place in Trinity College Sports grounds last Saturday. The men’s race over 8k consisted of four laps of 2k with a top-class entry that included many Irish International athletes as well as an Italian International athlete competing. The North Cork AC 5k road race took place last Sunday in good conditions with over 150 participants. Kealey Tideswell ran very well when finishing 7th in 18 mins 55 secs to win the women’s race and a great performance to open her road season for this year.
