Clonmel Juvenile Club Notes 7th May

Great performances at County Track and field Championships

The County Track and Field Outdoor season got underway at Templemore Track on the 6 & 7th May and Clonmel AC Juveniles amassed an impressive tally of medals over the 2 days with some athletes claiming multiple honours. We also had a very good showing of athletes who competed in their first competition.

Our outstanding performance at day one was that of Ava Fennessey who won Gold in the 60m Dash, Gold in the 800m, Silver in the 80m Hurdles, Silver in the Long Jump and Gold in the relay. Other multiple medal winners from day 1 were Veerla Van Der Wal who won Gold in the Javelin, Bronze in the Shot Putt, Silver in the Long Jump and Gold in the relay, Courtney McGuire who won Gold in the 800m, Silver in the 1500m and Silver in the relay, Brid Moynihan who won Gold in the relay and Silver in the 200m, Emma Moore who won Silver in the 200m and Silver in the relay, Elma Casey who won Silver in the 800m and Silver in the relay, Caoimhe Maunsell who won Bronze in the 800m and Silver in the relay, Saoirse Treacy who won Silver in the 800m and Silver in the 80m.

Our outstanding performance at day two was that of Daniel Charles, competing in his first outdoor competition amasses 5 medals with Silver in the Turbo Javelin, Bronze in the 500m, Bronze in the Long Jump and Bronze in both the under 10 and u11 relays. Other multiple medals from day 2 were Killian Whelan who won Bronze in the Long Jump, Bronze in the 60m and Bronze in the relay, Cian Flaherty who won Silver in the 60m, Silver in the Long Jump and Bronze in the relay, Ben Philips who won Bronze in the Turbo Javelin and Bronze in the relay, Conor O Gorman who won Silver in the 600m and Bronze in the relay, Eimear Heafy who won Silver in the Long Jump and Silver in the High Jump.

The club also had podium finishes for Hannah Berry who won Gold in the relay, Grainne O Connor who won Gold in the 2km Walk, Molly Keane who won Gold in the 1500m, Daniel Slattery who won Gold in the 3km, Riain Patterson who win Silver in the 1500m, Gillian Hughes who won Bronze in the 800m, Celine Durand who won Bronze in the 800m, Colm McCarthy who won Silver in the 800m, Oisin DeBarra who won Bronze in the 800m, Max Fitzgerald who won Bronze in the relay, Michael O Reilly who won Bronze in the relay, Cathal O Gorman who won Bronze in the Relay, Adhvaith Divakaran who won Bronze in the relay, Tristan O Connor who won Bronze in the relay, Gavin Ryan in his first competition who won Bronze in the relay, Kieran Proven who won Silver in the Shot Putt,

As well as podium placings we also had some very fine performances by Ruby Carroll in the Long Jump, Joshua Davern in the 100m, Raise Flaherty in the 800m, Conor O Loughlin in the 80m, Conor Flaherty in the 800m, Nathan O Connor in the Shot Putt, Ben Fuller in the Turbo Javelin, Patrick Lawless in Turbo Javelin, Charlie Philips in the Turbo Javelin, Liam Proven in the Turbo Javelin, Zoe Tierney in the Long Jump,  Isabella Fitzgerald in the Long Jump, Rachel Buckley in the Long Jump, Saofra O Loughlin in the Long Jump, Aoife Carmody in the Long Jump, Jenna Hayes in the 60m, Natasha O Connor in the 60m, Erin O Keeffe in the Long Jump and Cianan Power in the Long Jump.

A sincere thank you to all our coaches for all their technical advice which resulted in numerous medals by our athletes over the two days. Thank you to all the parents who covered the stewarding roles your help is greatly appreciated by the club and ensures that competitions runs smoothly for our athletes. Lastly but most importantly thank you to our athletes – your behaviour was exemplary over the 2 days and you were a credit to the club at all times.

 

Club mourns Mary Doyle RIP

It is with great sadness that we must inform you of the passing of Mary Doyle on Monday 29th May 2017 after a short illness. Mary was dedicated committee member, club registrar & so much more in Clonmel A.C. for almost two decades. She was also involved with Tipperary Athletics & at Munster level. As a mark of respect all training sessions are canceled for the week.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Albert and their children at this time. RIP Mary, she was one in a million…

Reposing at her home in Knockannaveigh on Wednesday evening from 4pm to 8pm. Arriving at the Church of Our Lady Queen, New Inn on Thursday morning for mass at 11:30am. Burial will take place on Friday after 1pm mass in St. Cormack’s church, Moygownagh, Co. Mayo, in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations if desired to the Hospice movement.

We’d like to invite fellow Clonmel AC members to join us in a guard of honour outside the Church of Our Lady Queen in New Inn on Thursday morning at 11:15 before the funeral mass at 11:30 as we pay our last respects to this wonderful lady RIP. If possible, please wear the club colours, from the Clonmel AC Committee.
