Club notes 16th January

County titles for Conor, John, Hazel and Bernard

It was great to see a return to Indoor Competition at County level. The County Senior and Master’s Indoor Championships took place last Sunday in Nenagh and it was a wonderful way to get the year off to a good start. Great credit must go to the County Board for organising it in a very safe environment and it was greatly appreciated by all the athletes.

The Club had four athletes competing and great to report that all of them competed well. The 1st event was the 3000m race and here Conor Fleming ran well over the 15 laps to win the over 55 title in mins secs. Then we had the 2K walk and here John Laste walked well when finishing strongly in a very good time of 9 mins 47.27 secs, augurs well as he heads for the National Championships in a fortnights time. Then we had Hazel Galloway running well in both the 60m and 200m when recording wins of 10.42 secs and 37.29 secs, respectively. Bernard Feery showed that he still has that quick turn of pace when registering two wins in the men’s over 55 800m and 1500m when crossing the line in 2 mins 47.57 secs and 5 mins 36.65 secs, respectively.

Tom Walsh 10K

This popular event took place last Sunday in ideal conditions in Caherconlish. Angela McCann ran very well when finishing 3rd woman in 37 mins 34 secs, showing good form at the start of the year.

Ballyhoura Mountains Moonlight 28k Challenge

This event took place in good conditions last Friday night and it was great to see Ciaran Doheny running so well when finishing 11th in a very good time of 2 hours 35 mins 29 secs. We also had Wojciech Ryzinski running well when finishing 149th in 4 hours 1 mins 32 secs.
