The juvenile county cross country uneven age groups took place in Moyglass on Sunday 13th October and 42 of our athletes competed over distances of 600m to 6000m. As always individual medals for the first 10 places up to u15 and top 6 will represent Tipperary in the Coming Munster Championship in November.
First up for Clonmel were the u9 girls and here we had Niamh Stafford in her first race ran very well to place 23rd. In the boys u9 we had Alex Downey also competing for the first time running very well to place 17th.In the girls u11 we had our first medal winner of the day with Eadaoin Duffy leading the team home in 9th place. Ava Gleeson running in her race was just outside the medal positions in 11th, Hannah Murray and Alice Meegan made up the team placing 31st and 34th respectively. Clonmel place 5th in the team event.
in the boys u11 Darragh Boland fresh from his 4th place finish last week put in another super performance to finish second. His team mates Harry Weymouth and James Logue also finished in the individual medal positions with 4th and 10th. Sam Donovan made up the final place on the team in 26th place good enough to take home the County Silver team medals. Evan Ryan, Jack Stafford and Jack Brannigan also ran well to place 43rd, 44th and 46th.
In the girls u13 race Eavann Duffy, not to be outdone by her younger sister also placed 9th and the team made up of Emer Brennan 21st, Meabh Meegan 26th, Emma Kiely 27th, Rachel Logue 30th and Aoife Stafford 31st all competed well to place 5th in the team event. In the boys u13 there was some great running by Mathew Downey 6th, Sean Mullins 7th, Gavin Ryan 16th, Fintan Kearny 17th, Ben Hoare 20th, Colin Murray23rd and Sean Doverman 27th. Here our team were strong enough to take the Silver county team medals.
In the u15 girls we saw some great running from both Jane O Donnell 6th and Eimear Heafy 8th. In the boys u15 a very strong team of Adam Cooney 4th, Conor O Gorman 5th, Cain Flaherty 6th and Cathal O Gorman 7th deservedly took the gold team medals. In the girls u17 race Clonmel took Gold and Silver team medals with Laura Cooney 3rd, Emma Murray 4th, Gillian Hughes 5th, Ellen Houze 6th, Celine Durand 7th, Grainne O Connor 8th and Roise Flaherty 9th. In the boys u17 Conor Flaherty ran a great race to place 5th. The final race of the day was the girls u19 and here we had our only County Champion with Brid Moynihan coming home to take the Gold.
