The Berlin Marathon took place today in what were warm and sunny conditions and the Club was well represented by David Mansfield. Throughout the race David was well positioned, going through 5k in 16:05 and 10k in 32:03. He reached halfway in 68 mins 23 secs. Despite these tough conditions, he kept that tempo going to finish in a very good time of 2 hours 19 mins 35 secs.
This was a brilliant performance by David who was 22nd overall in what was a top-class quality event. This was also a Personal best by David who was dipping under the 2 hours 20 mins for the very first time. His previous best was set in Dublin in 2017 when he ran 2 hours 20 mins 15 secs for the Classic distance. He had to prepare for this event during Covid and opportunities to race were rare, so a fantastic performance all round when one considers that he was averaging 3 mins 19 secs per km throughout the race in such warm conditions.
