The Kilsheelan 10 Mile Road race took place last Sunday. Conditions were very demanding as athletes had to contend with a combination of wind, rain, sleet and snow. Still with these conditions to contend with it was great to see Club members run so well in the Club’s Promotion. Indeed well done to the organising committee for putting on a great promotion. Conor Ryan making his debut over this distance ran a great when finishing 3rd in 58 mins 35 secs. Then we had Angela McCann also putting in a great performance when 7th overall and winning the women’s race in 64 mins 25 secs. We also had good performances from Sean McCarthy 17th in 69:42, Barry Horgan 22nd in 71:25, Ali O Connor also ran very well when finishing 2nd woman in 71:39 with Siobhan McHugh also putting in a great run when finishing 3rd woman in 73:19, Elaine Horgan 27th in 74:16, Nicola Maunsell winning the over 40 award when finishing 28th in 74:20, with Pat Coffey 29th in 74:27 and improving on his JT 10 run by 19 secs, John Griffin 30th in 74:53 beating his JT10 time of 76:09, Michelle Doherty was 31st and won the over 40 award in 75:01, Michael Ryan part of the organising committee was 34th in 75:57, Noel Ryan was 35th in 75:57 and improved on his JT10 of 76:48 with local knowledge a great help, Tom Quinn also ran very well when winning the over 65 award when finishing 45th in 81:51, Niall Brannigan 48th in 83:28, Victor Direen 49th in 83:30 and he was another athlete improving on his JT10 run of 83:43, Lizzie Ryan also ran very well when winning the over 50 award in 50th place in 83:32, Eoin Morrissey 51st in 83:33, Pat Walsh 57th in 84:11, Emma Ryan 59th in 84:53, Ned O Brien 61st in 85:17, Sinead Kennedy 65th in 86:07, Mellissa McCarthy 70th in 88:05, Grainne O Malley 71st in 88:05, Sinead Fahey 73rd in 88:59, Bernie Hopkins also ran very well when winning the over 60 award when finishing 79th in 91:54, Donna Nagle 82nd in 93:08, Marie Laste 83rd in 93:22 and Jacqui Walsh 91st in 97:58.
