The very popular Poulmucka Road races took place last Friday night in damp conditions. The Club promoted event was well supported by Club members and it is great to support this event as the Club gets great help from the organising committee for our own Boston Scientific Half Marathon event in August every year.
In the 8k race Jimmy Boland made his intentions known as he went to the front right from the start and set a strong pace that saw him put in a very impressive performance when winning in 25 mins 57 secs, a PB for Jimmy over this distance, great running. Then we had Joey Feery showing no ill effects from his great run in the Limerick Marathon a few weeks ago when finishing 3rd last Friday night in 27:15. We also had good performances from Conor Ryan 6th in 27:51, Dermot Logue 13th in 29:39, Keith O Brien 15th in 30:18, Angela McCann also ran very well when winning the Women’s race in 30 mins 42 secs, Sean McCarthy 22nd in 30:56, Barry Horgan 30th in 32:11, Tommy Dunphy 32nd in 32:18, Aine Roche 3rd woman in 32:23, Suzanne Shine 42nd in 33:31, Niall O Ceallaigh 43rd in 33:39, Elaine Horgan 38th in 34:40, Michelle Doherty 50th in 35:02, Courtney McGuire 53rd in 35:23, Aisling English 57th in 35:52, Kenny Brett 60th in 36:23, Eddie Prendergast 65th in 37:11, Victor Direen 68th in 37:25, Tommy Cahill also ran very well when winning the 0/60 award in 37:46, Eamonn English 71st in 38:08, Sancha Quigley 80th in 38:58, Mellissa O Loughlin 85th in 39:48, Tom Barry 89th in 40:01, Sinead Kennedy was an impressive winner of the 0/50 award when finishing in 41:15, Donna Nagle 107th in 44:00, Denise Donnelly 108th in 44:00, William Lonergan 110th in 44:25, Eamonn Crowley 126th in 48:41 and Oliver McGee 134th in 56:32.
In the 5k we also had some impressive performances like Connor O Gorman 2nd in 18:46, Cathal O Gorman 4th in 19:09, Donal Ryan 5th in 19:31, Ali O Connor was an impressive winner of the women’s race in 20:25 with Annmarie Boland 2nd in 21:20, Tom Dunphy 11th in 22:07, Emer Heafy 19th in 24:06, Nicola O Gorman 26th in 25:27 and Majella Quinlivan 66th in 34:52.
