Clonmel AC promoted a very successful MSD 4-mile road race today in what were ideal conditions for running. The pace was strong from the start, and it was great to see 73 Club members running so well. Conor Flaherty ran very well when finishing 19th in 22:56, then we had Ciara O Neill finishing 2nd senor woman in 23:13 with Angela McCann 3rd senior woman in 23:28. We also saw great performances from Cormac Healy 26th in 23:28, Muireann Duffy 1st Junior woman in 23:39, Ross McCarthy making his Club debut and running very well when finishing 31st in 23:46, Lorcan o Keeffe made a welcome return to racing and he too should be pleased with his performance 37th in 24:21. Maire Claire McCarthy also ran well when finishing 4th woman in 24:42 with Brendan Walshe 45th in 24:48, followed by Barry Horgan 51st 25:26, Donal Ryan 53rd 25:27, Eelco Beckers 56th in 25:35, Jamie Byrne 59th in 25:48 and Michael Moloney 62nd in 25:55. Then we had Suzanne Shine winning the women’s over 40 award in a very good time of 26:10, followed by Ruby Carroll 67th in 26:25, Elaine Horgan 70th in 26:29, Ailish Mansfield 72nd in 26:33, Pat Coffey 73rd in 26:35, Sean O Dea 74th in 26:41, David Lorigan 75th in 26:44, Niall Murphy 76th in 26:49, Peter Kiely 82nd in 27:03, Trevor Whelan 84th in 27:05, Niall Brannigan 85th in 27:12, Kenny Brett 88th in 27:15, Vincent McHugh 89th in 28:18, Aisling English 103rd in 28:11 and Brendan Coffey 106th in 28:16. Then we had Katie Lyne making her Club debut, a one to remember when finishing 2nd 0/35 in 29:29. Then we had Sheila Perry also running very well when finishing 2nd 0/50 in 29:33. Then we had Denise Donnelly also running very well when winning the women’s over 55 award in 35:50, followed by Ned O Brien 245th in 36:02, William Lonergan 253rd 37:07, Maurice Boland 255th 37:16 and Barbara Doran 257th in 37:41. Myles McHugh also put in a brilliant performance when winning the men’s over 70 award in 38 mins 54 secs. We also saw good performances from Annabelle Normile 276th 38:55, Deirdre Patterson 283rd 40:10, Dawn Ryan 285th 40:35, Ian Patterson 286th 40:36, Catherine Ryan 302nd in 42:31, Lena Griffin 303rd in 42:41 and Eamonn Crowley 306th in 44:19. Then we had Pierce Purcell also putting in a great performance when finishing in a very good time of 75 mins 33 secs, brilliant to see Pierce still enjoying the sport, an inspiration to all of us.
