The Great Limerick Run took place last Sunday and it had four different events and it was great to see Club members running so well in three of the events, despite the very warm and humid conditions.
The 10K saw a very welcome return to competition of Kevin Maunsell who has been nursing an injury of late. He ran very well when finishing 2nd to John Travers in 29 mins 43 secs, just 3 seconds separating both athletes, great running and what a return to fitness, breaking 30 minutes for 10k. We also had very good performance from Anthony Bowen who ran very well when finishing 16th in 36 mins 8 secs. We also had good performances from Kealey Tideswell 56th in 40:58, Anne Marie Boland 151st in 44:47, Eamonn English 327th in 48:09 and Roberta Ryan 2197th in 66:59.
In the Half Marathon the performance of the day was Jimmy Boland. Jimmy ran a well-judged race, pacing himself well over the initial stages and was able to pick it up over the final few miles when finishing a fantastic 6th in a new PB of 73 mins 48 secs, serious running. Then we had his training partner Joey Feery also clocking a brilliant performance when finishing 14th in 78 mins 6 secs. Conor Fleming also ran very well when finishing 57th in 86 mins 3 secs.
