The Munster U11 to Youth Pentathlon (combined events championships) were held in Nenagh on the 7th of January and the club was well represented with three athletes who made the journey. A very high calibre field was present with previous Munster Champions and current Munster record holders also competing.
The first event for Clonmel AC was the boys u13 and here we had Kieran Proven a veteran of these competitions and Shane Ahearne who was competing in his first multi event. Kieran finished a very credible 7th place with some great performances in sub zero temperatures like in the 60mH 13.21s (PB), in the Shot Putt his best throw was 6.92m, in the LJ he jumped 3.35m, in the HJ he jumped 1.20m (PB) and in the 800m he finished in 3.06.31 (PB).
Shane equally had some very fine performances when finishing in 9th position like in the 60mH 14.85s (PB), in the Shot Putt his best throw was 5.77m (PB), in the LJ he jumped 2.85m, in the HJ he jumped 0.90m and in the 800m he finished in 3.18.37 (PB).
The final event of the day for Clonmel AC was the boys u14 and here we had Michael Ahearne who was also competing in his first multi event. Michael put in some great performances like in the 60mH 12.04s (PB), in the Shot Putt his best throw was 5.60m (PB), in the LJ he jumped 3.96m (PB), in the HJ he jumped 1.25m (PB) and in the 800m he finished in 2.56.15 (PB).
The next competition for Clonmel juveniles athletes is the Munster Indoor Championship which takes place in Nenagh on the 10th and 11th February. Clonmel AC would like to thank the athletes and parents that travelled to Nenagh and flew the Clonmel AC colours.
