The Club closed 2021 with a string of very good performances at the Grange Fermoy 10K Road race. Indeed, it was great to see such a good representation form the Club competing in this event as Grange Fermoy athletes have bene regular participants in our events over the years.
Courtney McGuire ended the year on a high note when running very well to finish 2nd women behind Irish international Michelle Finn when crossing the line in 36 mins 42 secs and she was 19th overall. This was Courtney first time dipping under 40 minutes for this Classic distance. Her previous best was 41 mins 18 secs in the 2019 Tipperary Women’s Mini Marathon when finishing 7th overall. Massive progress in the last 2 years and well deserved. We also had great performances from Brendan Walshe who is running very well at the moment when finishing 42nd in a new PB of 39 mins 56 secs. Donal Ryan was also impressive when finishing 51st in 40 mins 37 secs, a massive improvement on his Coillte 10K run of 41 mins 41 secs. Then we had Eelco Beckers also running a great race when finishing 70th in 42 mins 12 secs, possibly a new PB. Anne Marie Halpin showed that she is coming back into form after her Mullingar Marathon success when finishing 96th in 44 mins 27 secs. We also had good performances from Pat Walsh 129th in 47 mins 41 secs, Paul Weymouth 149th in 49 mins 9 secs, Neil Proven 167th in 50 mins 33 secs, Anne Marie Lowes 194th in 54 mins 1 secs and Brian Tyrrell 226th in 57 mins 49 secs.
