The County Tipperary team competed in the Women’s National Track & Field League Premier Division in Tullamore on Sunday last, after being promoted from Division One in 2019, no competition in 2020.
Competition at this level was very keen. However, this didn’t deter our two representatives on the team, Grainne O Connor, and Ciara O Neill as they both took great satisfaction of representing their County at National level. Grainne put in a very good performance when finishing 4th in the 1500m Walk and earning 4 valuable points for the County team. Then later in the day Ciara O Neill competed in the 3000m and here she also put in a very good performance when finishing 3rd and gaining 6 valuable points for the County. Indeed, it was great to see many of this young team competing so well at this high level of competition, it augurs well for the future. In a very competitive team competition Tipperary were edged out to 4th place when losing out on the Bronze medals, which were won by Galway, by just 1.5 points, oh so close.
