Athlone was the venue today for the National Masters Indoor Championships. Hazel Galloway had a great Championships. She ran a great race in the 60m 0ver 60 final when finishing 2nd in 10.02 secs to win the Silver medal. Then later in the day she put in a brilliant one lap over the 200m to win the over 60 National title in 35.26 secs. Susan Laste competing in her first National finals ran well in the 60m when recording a PB of12.08 secs. Later in the day she ran in the 200m and ran well when finishing in 44.28 secs, another PB, brilliant.
Alan Carter is another athlete who had a brilliant Championships. He started the day off well when competing in the Men’s over 40 400m and ran well when finishing in 60.57 secs. He then turned his attention to the High Jump and here he put in a brilliant array of jumps to win the Bronze medal when clearing 1.55m, brilliant as this was a PB and improving on his previous best by 10cm.
Bernard Feery was another athlete who ran very well when finishing 4th in the over 55 1500m final in 5 mins 18.45 secs. Conor Fleming was another athlete making his debut in these Championships and he too ran very well when finishing 6th in the Men’s over 50 300m in 11 mins 26.90 secs. Neil Proven competed in the Men’s over 50 High Jump and finished 4th, oh so close. He also competed in the Long Jump when finishing 7th with his best jump of 4m.
