The County Uneven Cross Country Championship took place on Sunday in Middlepiece in what can only be described as real cross country weather. For those that braved the elements and ran, great credit to ye all. As with last week, the top 10 received individual medals.
In the boys under 9 race we had 2 competitors and both ran brilliantly Billy Heaney placing 5th and Aodhan O Keeffe placing 25th. In the boys under 11 race Fionn Aird made the podium with his 3rd place finish. His team mates also ran well with Ciaran Horgan 15th and Seamus Meegan 33rd. Unfortunately, we were one short for a team. In the boys under 13 race we saw a fantastic display from our team that just missed out on a bronze team medal with both Devin Ryan and Ryan Kennedy receiving medals for their 9th and 10th place finishes and the other team members Harry Walsh 15th and Evan Ryan 29th. In the boys under 15 race again a brilliant display by Daragh Boland running out of age group to come home in 2nd place. In the boys under 17 Tadhg Quinn put in a very good performance to place 4th in a very competitive race. In the boys under 19 race both our competitors ran well with Conor Flaherty placing 2nd and Sam O Sullivan placing 5th again we were one short for a winning county team medal. Conor Sam and Tadhg would also team up to win the County Junior team Gold medals.
In the girls under 13 race we were again 1 short for a team with great displays from Cara Ryan in 14th, Moya O Donnell 22nd and Claire Moore 25th. In the girls under 15 race a brilliant run by our team meant that Emer Brennan 2nd, Hannah Murray 8th, Alice Meegan 11th and Lily Casey 13th was good enough to win the team Silver medals. Our under 17 girls would go one better with winning the Gold team with super runs from Kate Walsh 2nd, Eimear Heafy 5th and Meabh Meegan 7th. Our under 19 race saw our only County champion of the day with Muireann Duffy leading her team of Laura Cooney 2nd, Ruby Carroll 4th and Celine Durand 6th to take the Gold county team medals. In the junior ladies Muireann, Laura and Emma Murray won Gold with Clonmel team of Ruby Celine and Eimear taking the Silver medlas.
