The Munster Half Marathon and Marathon Championships were part of the Great Limerick Run at the start of the month. The results of these Championships were published during the week and they show some brilliant achievements from Club members. Aine Roche’s brilliant run of 1 hour 36 mins 14 secs in the Half Marathon saw her win her first Munster Senior Half Marathon Championship medal when winning the Bronze medal, this performance also saw her win the over 35 Bronze medal. She also had the distinction of leading home her Club as Munster Senior Inter Club Half Marathon Champions. The other two members of the team also ran fantastic races with Anne Marie Halpin having a dream year in her first year of competition. In April Anne Marie was part of our women’s team that won the County Master Women’s Road Bronze medals and here her great performance of 1 hour 43 mins 51 secs along with Anna Byrne’s great run of 1 hour 51 mins ensured the Munster Gold medals for the Club, Anna also won the Women’s over 45 Silver medal. It is great to see Anna also on the team as she is running very well at the moment. In the Men’s equivalent we also had some brilliant performances. Jimmy Boland’s PB run of 73 mins 51 secs along with two other great performances by Joey Feery (78 mins 8 secs) and Conor Fleming (86 mins 15 secs) saw them combining very well to win the Munster Senior Inter Club Silver medals. Conor also had the distinction of winning the Munster over 45 Bronze medal with this great performance. Anthony Power is another athlete who has shown great progress this year and he ran a brilliant race when winning the Munster Master Men over 55 Silver medal in 1 hour 37 mins 5 secs.
