The New York Marathon took place in very warm conditions last Sunday. Going into this race Pat Walsh had picked up an injury that prevented him from running in the Dublin City Marathon, but he was able to compete in the New York event. He paced himself well, reaching 10k in 51:47, 20k in 1:45:13 and halfway in 1:51:26. He maintained that pace when reaching 30k in 2:38:02. Over the final few miles, the missed training sessions due to the injury began to tell but his experience stood to him as he finished strongly in 3 hours 45 mins 14 secs, brilliant performance.
