The Aherlow Trail Half marathon took place over the weekend as part of a series of race in Aherlow. The route was a 21.1 km loop on a mixture of hiking trails, forest roads and quiet country roads, with several climbs and descents, starting and finishing near Lisvernane. Here, we had Paul Minogue running a brilliant a race when winning in 1 hour 35 mins 12 secs. Paul prepared very well for this event by having a very good run in the County 10 Mile last Sunday week in Moyglass where he practised his pre-race preparations to the tee and benefitted greatly, sound advice for anyone preparing for a major event, practise makes perfect. Paul went to the front right from the start and soon opened a commanding lead, that despite a heavy fall after 5km, got up and kept going to come home a very worthy and convincing winner.
