The Munster u14 to u19 Track competition took place on Saturday and Sunday 16th & 17th June and the club was well represented with 15 athletes competing and with the top 4 placing qualifying for the national championship in Tullamore Clonmel had 7 athletes make the grade. The conditions weren’t ideal but that didn’t deter Sam o Sullivan winning the u14 2k walk and Gavin English winning the u18 400m. Gavin also finished 3rd 800m.
Daniel Slattery put in a silver medal winning performances in the 2k Steeplechase as did Grainne O Connor in the u15 girls 2k walk. As well as medal winners we had some very good performances from Colm McCarthy who finished 4th in both the 800m and 1500m, Cailin Napier who finished 4th in the girls u18 800m, Hannah Berry who finished 4th in the girls u18 100m Hurdles and Conor O Loughlin who finished 4th in the 200m Heats, Saoirse Tracy who finished 13th in the u15 800m, Brid Moynihan who finished 10th in the u17 800m, Ruby Carroll who finished 7th in the u14 1500m, Laura Cooney who finished 9th in the u15 1500m, Oisin De Bara who finished 5th in the u19 400m, Siobhan Whelan who finished 5th in the u17 1500m and Lorcan O Keeffe who finished 6th in the u18 1500m.
In addition to medal winning performances all the athletes ran Season best times. Clonmel A.C would like to thank the athletic coaches and parents for their continued support of the club and wish the 7 qualifying athletes, the clubs largest number in many years all the best when representing their Provence County and Club in the upcoming National finals in July.
