The Sonia O Sullivan 10 Mile road race took place last Sunday on an ideal day for running. Sean Tobin making his debut over this distance, made it a winning one. Right from the start he set a strong pace that soon saw him well clear of the chasing pack. Over the challenging course, the hills didn’t seem half as bad as what he had to contend with at the recent World Cross Country Championship in Denmark. His solo effort over the 10 miles around Cobh saw him come home a very convincing winner in 48 mins 35 secs, well inside the old record set by Mick Clohisey of Raheny Shamrocks last year of 49 mins 23 secs, brilliant performance. Sean now heads stateside for a 10k road race on April 20th and then onto Jamaica for a 3000m Track race on May 4th. Then we had Kealey Tideswell also running a great race when finishing 3rd Senior woman in 67 mins 8 secs when finishing 39th overall. We also had good performances from Julie Tideswell 376th in 89 mins 10 secs and Paula Dwan 529th in 99 mins 2 secs.
