The World Indoor Athletics Track meet took place in Karlshurhe last Friday night. Sean Tobin was a pacemaker in a top class 3000m race and he done a fantastic piece of pacing especially over the 2nd km of the race. The pace was strong throughout with the leaders going through 1km in 2 mins 32.44 secs. Then Sean took up the pace and he kept that strong pace going and the rest of the field responded with them all in Indian file as he churned out a strong even pace over the next 5 laps to get to 2k in an exceptionally good time of 5 mins 6.44 secs. This set them all up to record very impressive times with the winner Bethwell Birgen of Kenya winning in a world lead time of 7 mins 34.12 secs. The rest of the field either set personal or seasonal best performances. This was a brilliant piece of running by Sean and no doubt he will be much sought after for the other distance races in the indoor season in Europe over the next couple of weeks.
