The Munster Intermediate and Masters cross Country Championships took place in Clare castle last Sunday where conditions were very demanding. In the women’s race Suzanne Shine underlined her good form when running a great race when finishing 8th. We also had impressive performances in such conditions from Sarah Whelan 14th, Sareen Walsh 18th and Michelle Doherty and this quartet combined very well to win the Inter Club bronze medals. This was the first time this quartet won medals at this level and great credit must go to them for all the training they have put in over the past couple of months, brilliant to see it paying off on the day. Then we had Suzanne Shine and Sarah Whelan helping the County team to win the bronze medals. At Master level these four athletes also achieved success, winning the Inter Club over 35 silver medals with Suzanne and Sarah also scoring on the County team that won bronze medals. Indeed, this group of athletes have now achieved success at Munster Novice, Munster Intermediate, Munster Masters and Munster Senior level this year, fantastic achievement.
In the Men’s races, Joey Feery ran very well when finishing 16th and 4th score on the County team that won silver medals. We also saw good performances from Conor Fleming 32nd and Donal Ryan 49th. These athletes also competed well in the Master race.
