The Club promoted Newcastle 5k took place last Sunday. As the first race in 2018 it was great to see Club members competing as they plan ahead for the year. Emmet Prendergast made good use of local knowledge when leading home the club contingent by finishing 9th in 19 mins 33 secs, brilliant running by Emmet and a massive improvement on last year’s run of brilliant21 mins 30 secs when he was 35th. Then we had Aine Roche also running well when finishing 2nd woman in 20 mins 3 secs. Then we had good runs from Barry Horgan 15th (20:17) and Daniel Slattery 16th (20:22) respectively. Then we had Niall O Ceallaigh running well when finishing 1st over 45 in 20:25. We also had good performances from Suzanne Shine, 1st woman over 40 in 20:55, Annemarie Boland 25th in 21:03, Michelle Doherty 29th in 21:49, Darragh Boland 36th in 22:46, Eddie Prendergast 37th in 22:46, Ruby Carroll 43rd in 23:06, Tommy Cahill 45th in 23:26, Ned O Brien 52nd in 24:14, Ian Patterson 53rd in 24:22, Neil Proven 61st in 25:05, Kieran Proven 62nd in 25:07, Eoin Morrissey 64th in 25:11, Eamonn Crowley 82nd in 27:42, Myles McHugh 85th in 28 mins, Helen Cahill 124th in 38:58 and Paudie Everard in 52:39.
