Last Saturday night in the Invitational Mile at the Millrose Games, Sean Tobin ran a fantastic race. The race started with 9 athletes in the field and at the end of the 1st lap Sean was 6th in a close group, at the end of 2nd lap he was 7th reaching 409m in 60.45 secs, at halfway he had moved into 6th place in 2 mins.33 secs. He reached 1209m in 2 mins 59.65 secs in 4th place having moved up two places on the tight circuit with 2 laps to go. Then over the final 2 laps he gave it everything, moving into 3rd place at the bell in 3 mins 28.66 secs. He put in a tremendous effort over the closing stages to finish a fantastic 4th in 3 mins 58.28 secs. Brilliant performance on his first indoor event of the year. This was a PB for Sean who was under 30 secs for 7 of the 8 laps, some consistency and pace. This fantastic performance by Sean was an Ole Miss college record beating his own record of 3:59.91 set in 2014 season. Sean’s career best time for the Mile was achieved at the Cork City Sports last year where he ran 3 mins 57 secs when finishing 3rd.
